Ronald D. Hales

Ronald D. Hales has been blessed all of his life with the spirit of creativity
and curiosity.  As he grew through his early years, he had two loves---art
and photography.  The these passions led to many creative experiences
including both as a college photographer, a U.S. Navy photographer plus
many, many graphic and photo presentations and productions.  During his
“first career” that spanned over 2 decades, he was an Architect, having
his own firm, while still deeply involved with drawing, painting and of
course, photography.   After retiring from the artistic/construction world,
Ron developed his fascination with painting and shared interest with
Lorraine in history.   One example of his work is a painting he did of his
great great grandfather, Stephen Hales (1820), who was a finish stone
carver on the Nauvoo and Salt Lake Temples.  The painting shows
Stephen carving the “clasped hands stone” for the Salt Lake Temple.  Ron
used his construction knowledge and a lot of research, to make it as
accurate and illustrative as possible.  The original will be at the Gathering
in July along with some of his other oil portraits.  Ron’s oil paintings can
be seen now at www.ronhalesportraits.com, his photography site is www.
ronhalesphotographer.com. (Available after 28 May 2008).  Yes, this photo
is a selfportrait.
